Our Housing Projects
NORVHN's History
Sarge's Place & The Outpost
NORVHN was born from the need within Clallam and Jefferson Counties to house homeless Veterans.  Our grassroots programs first began in 2000, but our non-profit was retrofited to a Veteran only focus in 2011.  Our first project, Sarge's Place was opened that fall with seed money from First Federal Savings & Loan, the Ben Phillips Foundation and an appropriation from Senator Patty Murray.  These monies allowed us to purchase an existing 2-story apartment building in Forks, remodel it and get into the business of helping Veterans.

Three years later, we joined up with Peninsula Housing Authority and received a Dept. of Commerce Housing Trust Fund application for $500k which allowed us to purchase an existing 4-plex apartment building in Port Angeles, which was remodeled and repurposed for homeless Veterans and their families.

Per capita, Clallam County has the highest number of Veterans in the State of Washington
The VA estimates 130,000 Veterans are homeless throughout the country on any given night
89% of homeless Veterans have an Honorable Discharge

Even one homeless Veteran is a shame, the fact that we have 58,000 is a moral outrage.  We should all do more about it.
